Someone else has used my ticket - what do I do?

Speak to the organiser at the door with your booking in your account, then report it to BLOCO after the event.

If your ticket has been scanned by someone else before you arrived, here's what to do.

How does this happen?

Each ticket has a unique QR code that can only be scanned once. If your code has already been used, one of the following has happened:

  • Someone you shared your QR code or screenshot with used it before you arrived
  • Someone who bought your ticket from an unofficial source (e.g. social media resale) got there first
  • In rare cases, a scanning error - if you arrived right after another person was scanned, there can occasionally be a brief system delay

What to do right now - at the door

  1. 1Stay calm and speak to the organiser or venue staff - not the door scanner.
  2. 2Show them your BLOCO account on your phone with the booking clearly showing in your name.
  3. 3Ask them to check the scan log - it will show when the QR code was first used and, in some cases, which device scanned it.
  4. 4The organiser has the final say on whether to admit you. BLOCO cannot override on-the-door admission decisions.

The organiser is the right person to speak to at this point, not BLOCO. They have the authority to admit you and access to the check-in data.

After the event - report it to BLOCO

If you believe your ticket was used fraudulently - for example, if you purchased from a third party and the QR code had already been used - raise a concern through your BLOCO account after the event. Include your booking reference, the event name and date, where you purchased the ticket from, and what happened at the door. We’ll investigate and advise on next steps. If fraud is confirmed, we’ll take action on the account responsible.

How to avoid this in future

  • Never share your QR code or a screenshot of it with anyone.
  • Only transfer tickets using the in-platform transfer function - this invalidates your old QR code and issues a new one to the recipient.
  • Never buy tickets from unofficial sources - only buy through bloco.co.uk or the BLOCO app.
