Why is the booking fee non-refundable?

The fee pays for services already delivered at the point of purchase, so it cannot be reversed.

We get asked this a lot, so here's the honest answer.

What the booking fee covers

When you buy a ticket on BLOCO, a small booking fee is added to your order. This fee covers:

  • The technology that powers the BLOCO platform - the website, app, and ticketing system
  • Secure payment processing via Stripe
  • Ticket delivery and distribution
  • Customer support infrastructure

The moment you confirm your purchase, those services have been used. Your ticket has been issued, your payment has been processed, and your booking is confirmed. That's why the fee can't be reversed - the service has already been delivered.

Is this standard practice?

Yes. Every major ticketing platform - from the biggest names in the industry down - charges a booking fee and it's always non-refundable. It's the standard way ticketing platforms operate.

Is it shown before I pay?

Always. The booking fee is displayed clearly in your order summary before you confirm payment, so there are no surprises. You'll also see it on your booking confirmation email.

What if the event is cancelled?

Even if the event is cancelled by the organiser, the booking fee is still non-refundable. Any refund of the ticket face value is handled by the organiser - but the booking fee stays with BLOCO. This is covered in our Customer Terms of Service.

If you're worried about losing money if an event gets cancelled, consider adding Booking Protect at checkout - it covers you for a range of circumstances outside your control.
